2022 MTV VMA Nominations: Full List – Lil Nas X Leads, Adele Snubbed

Lil Nas X won’t be writing a diss song on MTV anytime soon.

The Montero the singer is among the most decorated artists for a 2022 MTV Video Music Awardwhose nominees were announced on Tuesday.

With seven nominations, including Video and Artist of the Year, Lil Nas X tied for top collaborator opposite Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar. That’s certainly a far cry from this year’s BET Awards nominations, whose decision to completely snub Lil Nas X last month inspired the rapper to release single “Late to da Party.”

Speaking of snubs, one name we expected to see more of in this list was Adele, whose chart-topping fourth studio album 30 earned him only two nominations: Song of the Year (“Easy on Me”) and Best Art Direction (“Oh My God”). Looking at Adele’s history with the VMAs – she earned 10 nominations for 25 in 2016, linking her to Beyoncé – it’s hard not to wonder if she was negatively affected by her eleventh-hour decision to postpone her Las Vegas residency earlier this year, for which she finally announced new dates this week.

The 2022 MTV VMAs will air live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey on Sunday, August 28 (8/7c).

Read on for the full list of this year’s VMA nominees, then leave a comment with your thoughts. Which artists are you going to encourage next month?
