The singer has turned away from Parton over the past decade.
Ashley McBryde avoid Dolly Parton no matter what these days. In fact, McBryde has been walking the other way for about 10 years whenever the two are close.
The country singer-songwriter recently spoke with Rob + Holly hosts Rob Stone and holly huton for an interview during the Faster horses Festival, where they discussed some of his most embarrassing celebrity encounters.
There was the time his voice cracked during a meeting Reba McEntire and Morgane Stapleton. Oh, and the time she put her foot in her mouth while inadvertently insulting by John Rich whiskey. But nothing is likely to top the time when she was technically responsible for the fire at Dolly Parton’s lake house.
While the property was being renovated, McBryde was hired to stay on site with one of Parton’s nieces to let the workers in and out of the house. Her only job, as she described it, was basically not to mess anything up.
Unfortunately, Parton’s niece – whom McBryde did not name – had other ideas. She put an entire box of bagel bites in the microwave and accidentally set it on fire, in a freshly carpeted room. “I take responsibility for it,” McBryde admitted, although it wasn’t really his fault.
She even carried the burning device down the aisle but, alas, her heroism wasn’t enough. Parton let McBryde go, but not without a parting gift: the microwave. “She knew I was poor and had none,” laughed McBryde. The singer said it still worked, but everything she made there smelled like bowling shoes. Sounds like punishment enough!
