John Legend is back!
On Friday, the winner of 12 Grammy Awards announced his eighth studio album LEGEND. Scheduled to be released by Republic Records on September 19, LEGEND is produced by the singer himself along with Ryan Tedder, who has worked with other iconic artists like Beyoncé and Adele, according to a statement shared with PEOPLE.
The double album (broken in ACT I and ACT 2) is expected to take listeners on a journey of joy, pain and healing, according to the announcement.
Speaking about the importance of the album title, the “All of Me” crooner points out in the release, “Until now, I’ve never used any aspect of my name as the title of an album.”
“I had to earn this, live up to it by delivering the performance and the music. And that’s me saying, I’m proud of who I am, I’m confident in the work that I’ve done, and I’m I’m just going to declare it,” he added.
Along with announcing their new album, Legend released their latest single from LEGEND, “All She Wanna Do”, featuring Saweetie and produced by Tedder, Monsters and Strangerz, Zach Sketon, Andrew DeRoberts and Halatrax.
“Honey” featuring Muni Long and “Dope” featuring JID–– also recently came out of the project.
The EGOT winner then shared the sultry cover on Instagram, which shows him shirtless against a sleek black backdrop. He also released the track listing, with each act consisting of 12 songs.
“#LEGEND will be released September 9th. Pre-order link in bio,” he wrote alongside the photo.
In the comments section, his wife and TV personality Chrissy Teigen hilariously revealed that Legend didn’t tell her the title of his album before sharing it with the world.
“I love discovering the name of the album with everyone. I remain humble,” she wrote.
It’s been an exciting year for the couple as Teigen announced earlier this week that she was almost two years pregnant after suffering a pregnancy loss.
The 36-year-old model announced on Instagram on Wednesday that she was pregnant with the couple’s fourth child after undergoing IVF alongside photos of her baby bump. In the photos, she is wearing a crop top and lace underwear.
“The past few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy once again filled our home and our hearts,” she captioned the snaps. “1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as you can see!), we’ve got another one on the way.”

“Every date I’ve been like, ‘ok if it’s healthy today, I’ll announce it’, but then I breathe a sigh of relief hearing a heartbeat and decide I’m still too nervous,” added Teigen, who shares daughter Luna Simone, 6, and son Miles Theodore, 4, with Legend. “I don’t think I’ll ever walk away from a date with more excitement than nervousness, but so far everything is perfect and beautiful and I feel hopeful and amazing. Ok phew, It was very difficult to keep it for so long!”
