“Kid Cudi doesn’t deserve this. Smh.”
Kid Cudi left the Rolling Loud stage this weekend after water bottles were thrown at him.
For context, Cudi wasn’t originally supposed to headline the Miami festival — Kanye West was, but pulled out days before. “We looked forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022. We spent months working with him and his team on the performance,” the festival co-founders told Variety last Sunday.
Ye and Cudi themselves have had a somewhat contentious relationship in recent months. In an Instagram post in February, Ye said Cudi would not be on Injury 2 as he was friends with Pete Davidson – to which Cudi replied, “Too bad I don’t want to be on your album, you fucking dinosaur hahahaha.” Cudi later pointed out on Twitter when releasing Pusha T’s track “Rock N Roll” “I’m not cool with this man.”
Cue Cudi’s Rolling Loud performance. Footage from the event shows Cudi being hit by water bottles:
“I’ll leave this stage if you throw another fuckin’ thing in here,” Cudi said during the fourth song of his set, “REVOFEV.”
“You are ruining [it] for everyone. I’m fucking leaving,” he added. Another bottle of water was thrown, causing him to leave the stage as people began to boo.
While Cudi has yet to comment on the situation, Rolling Loud tweeted, “Our fans, artists and everyone involved need to look out for each other. Share the love and respect everyone. We love you , Cudi.”
After all that, Ye ended up making an appearance at Rolling Loud during Lil Durk’s set. He even performed the Pablo’s life track “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1”, which features vocals by Cudi.
Rolling Loud was even more notable as it appeared to be Travis Scott’s first appearance at the festival since the Astroworld deaths – making an appearance on the set of Future.
We’ll keep you posted if Cudi comments on the situation.
