Post Malone receives praise from Brad Paisley for a cover of this classic – Billboard

Post Malone deserves praise from none other than country music singer-songwriter Brad Paisley, for covering one of Paisley’s early country hits.

The “Sunflower” singer posted a music video on TikTok featuring a performance of Paisley’s 2002 No. 1 Country Airplay hit, “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song).” The clip is from a performance by Post Malone in 2021 as part of the We’re Texas fundraiser, an event hosted by actor Matthew McConaughey to support the state of Texas in the wake of a winter storm devastating in February 2021. (Post Malone’s performance also included a rendition of Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have The Crown.”)

Paisley commented positively on Post Malone’s cover version saying, “That’s better than me.” Paisley also edited his TikTok page’s bio to read “I write songs for Post Malone.”

Malone quickly responded, saying in a follow-up video, “Brad, there’s no shooting, man. I love you so much man, thanks for the love, man. I owe you a beer, man. Text me, I’ll see you soon.

Earlier this year, Post Malone said during an interview on SiriusXM The Howard Stern Show that he intends to record a country album.

“To be honest, there’s nothing stopping me from picking up a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and recording a country album. [and releasing it] on YouTube,” Malone said. “I have the right to do this, I am a human being.”

During the interview on The Howard Stern Show, the rapper added, “I split my time between a lot of different things because I’m happily obligated to do gigs and show love to my fans and then I’m happily obligated to write music and making beats on my own and I’m happily obligated to take care of my family,” he added. “So it’s a lot of time, and it’s about finding that space to allocate that time . If I have another year to myself, maybe I’ll do a country album.
