Randy Rainbow tells Republicans exactly where they can stick their ‘thoughts and prayers’ in new parody video

As the number of mass shootings continues to rise in the United States, many Americans are wondering when Congress will actually do something, rather than asking GOP members to offer their “thoughts and prayers” carte blanche. before refusing to adopt control firearms. Viral comedian Randy Rainbow may not have the answer to that question, but he sure can express that endless sense of frustration through music. And on Thursday (August 4), Rainbow shared her latest musical parody, “Thoughts and Prayers,” calling out Republican lawmakers for their tired response to near-constant mass shootings.

Beginning the video in a fake interview with Sen. Ted Cruz, Rainbow wastes no time poking fun at “that fucking dude” and asking why his party refuses to act on gun control. As Cruz once again gives the same chorus, Rainbow quickly interrupts, “Yeah, that’s cute – but with all due respect, prayers don’t prevent these horrible tragedies.” He adds, “Should you really send more thoughts? You have almost no input to start with.

Rainbow then launches into her musical number, to the tune of “Dance: Ten, Looks: Three” from the Broadway musical A chorus line. He roasts Cruz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lindsey Graham, FoxNews‘s Sean Hannity, and just about every other Republican in Congress. “Thoughts and prayers / It would be appropriate / If they all ran Hallmark stores,” he sings. “Thoughts and prayers won’t save our lives/So go hustle yours!”

As the video progresses, Rainbow’s lyrics only get more blunt as he explains the importance of gun reform legislation and the Republicans’ refusal to break party lines. “When the problem gets worse / Quote your favorite Bible verse / Fake compassion is so trendy,” he sings. To close the large number, Rainbow offers a simple piece of advice to her opponents opposite: “Fuck you!”
