The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced a surprise new album. The return of the dream canteen will arrive on October 14, just six months after the release of the 12th album Unlimited love.
“We set out to find ourselves as the band we’ve always been,” the band said in a statement. “Just for fun, we jammed and learned old songs. Soon after, we began the mysterious process of creating new songs. A great chemistry that has befriended us hundreds of times along the way. .
“Once we found that flow of sounds and sights, we kept tapping. With time turned into an elastic waistband of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and It was like a dream. When it was all said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of the music had given us more songs than we knew what to do with.
“Well, we get it. Two double albums released back to back. The second is easily as significant as the first or should it be reversed. The return of the dream canteen is everything we are and have always dreamed of being. It’s packed. Made with the blood of our hearts, yours truly, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”
As Unlimited love, return of the dream canteen was produced by Rick Rubin, and is the second album released since in-out guitar genius John Frusciante returned to the band in late 2019.
