Teen Pop Sensation JoJo Siwa Apologizes For ‘Lesbian’ Is A ‘Dirty Word’ Controversy

Youtuber and former dance moms Star JoJo Siwa apologizes for saying she wasn’t comfortable with the word ‘lesbian’ but insisted she never called it a ‘dirty word’.

The dancer and singer was lambasted by critics when she admitted in an interview that she was not comfortable with the word “lesbian”, even though she is attracted to women.

Critics said Siwa called the label a “swear word” and attacked her for encouraging “lesbianphobia”. Now she is being forced to apologize by the outraged crowd.

Siwa, 19, clarified her comments in a TikTok video denying that lesbian was a dirty word or had bad connotations.

“I never said lesbian was a dirty word and I would never say it’s a dirty word because it’s not,” she said of the brewing controversy. . “It’s not a swear word, it’s not an insult, and it’s especially not a word that I’m ashamed to say or ashamed to identify as by any means.”

Siwa went on to say that all she meant by her previous comments was that she doesn’t like the “sound” of the word, adding that she also doesn’t like the sound of the word” wet”.

“I don’t hate the word lesbian. … Whenever someone talks to me about my sexuality, I just say I’m gay,” she attempted to explain. “That’s not the word that runs off the tongue for me, if that makes any sense.”

The controversy erupted when she spoke with Yahoo Life two weeks ago and said she didn’t like the word very much.

“I don’t like the word itself,” the singer said during the interview. “It’s like lesbians, it’s like a lot.”

“But I mean, at the end of the day, that’s what I am… It’s like the word wet!” It’s just like…ugh,” she added.

Her comment sent fans on social media to blame her for hating herself for her lesbianism and displaying some kind of internalized hatred for lesbianism.

Siwa also touched on the claim that she has become a “gay icon”, which she says is “an honor that I do not take lightly”.

The young social media personality only came out as gay last year. And this August, she joined Dancing with the stars with a partner as the show’s first gay dance couple.
